Up until now, Arlington have made the most of their XFL playoff berth, after earning it with a 4-6 regular season record in a comparatively weak XFL South division. The team secured a shocking 26-11 South Division championship victory over the Houston Roughnecks, to qualify for the championship game.

The Renegades won 7-3 against Houston following a three-touchdown performance by quarterback Luis Perez. Perez completed 19 of 27 passes for 289 yards and three scores to JaVonta Payton and Brandon Arconado.

Meanwhile, the Defenders, have a 10-1 record and are heavily favored to win the 2023 championship. D.C. earned their XFL championship game berth with a dominating 37-21 victory over the Seattle Sea Dragons on Sunday.

The Defenders have some impressive quarterbacks who recorded strong games during their playoff victory. Jordan Ta’amu completed 19 of 31 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns to two interceptions. Meanwhile, D’Eriq King also completed 4 of 5 passes for 41 yards.

Both teams have previously met in Week 9 of the regular season. The game went into overtime before D.C. eventually emerged victorious with a 28-26 score.

The upcoming XFL championship between the Defenders and Renegades will kick off at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 13. The match will take place at the Alamodome stadium located in San Antonio.
