The 54-year-old Actor Brendon Fraser receives the best actor award at the 2023 Critics Choice award, held in Los Angeles on Sunday, for the movie “The Whale”. As he won the award, he was seen in tears expressing his gratitude and immense fascination for the unconditional support that he received from fans, his fellow actors, and directors.
It was way more than just an achievement for him as he surpassed the all-time favorites and his potential competitor nominees Tom Cruise and Austin Butler. Austin was reportedly seen to have an intensely gracious and glutted look as he saw Brendon winning the award.
In his emotional award-embracing speech, he thanked his co-star and onscreen daughter Sadie Sink, remarking that her talent is unreal as she accomplishes a stunning job in the movie at such a young age. He also paid his sincere thank to his fellow cast Hong Chau, Ty Simpkins, director Darren Aronofsky, and writer Samuel Hunter.
In an interview after he won the award, he said, “It’s gratifying, I appreciate the recognition, if you told me that I would be doing this when I first started in this industry I wouldn’t have believed you! I appreciate it very much!”Apart from it, Cate Blanchett won the best actress award in critic choice for her role as a fictional conductor in the movie Tar. The best foreign language movie award was bagged by the Action film RRR.

Popular actor James Corden revealed in an interview that at one point he was about to star in the very movie with the same character. Still, he claimed that he could not make it till the end as the project did not come together since director Tom Ford wanted to have more control over the movie. Later Brendon was offered the character.
Brendon’s sheer character in the movie “The Whale” that got him the award was about a guy who struggles with his obesity, trying to reunite with his estranged daughter, his role stays demotivated as if he was in a dark sea, but manages to gather strength to find the light at the end of the tunnel. He portrayed the role of an obese English Teacher beautifully which indeed tug the heartstrings of many.
